Heather: What early events in your life made you interested in improving the elevator shaft?
Alexander Miles: Well, I used to own a barber shop and it was in a building with lots of stories so it had an elevator. My young daughter used to come to my work all the time and while she was getting on the elevator one day i realized how unsafe it really was. This made me really determined to provide a safer environment for my children as well as other people.
